This integrated dance blog is here to explain what integrated dance is, and how it is good for people
Integrated dance is when people with physical disabilities, and people without physical disabilities dance together. It does not matter what the disability is, or whether or not it is noticeable to the eye. It requires both disabled and non disabled dancers. Just non disabled, or just disabled is not integrated dance. For many people integrated dance gives health benefits, and a whole lot of joy, and happiness. There are many dance companies doing integrated dance like this.
Most were started during the disability rights, and integrated dance movement, during the 1980’s. Such companies are: Candoco Dance Company in London, AXIS Dance Company in Oakland California, and Heidi Latsky Dance in New York City. There are also schools doing integrated dance classes, and individual dancers doing integrated dance.
I am hoping to have a professional dance career, and afterwards I would like to start my own integrated dance school. Dance and integrated dance is my passion, and it means everything to me.I hope this blog is helpful to everyone learning about integrated dance. Thank you! 🙂
